Benefit Variety Concert raises £800

Thanks to Sue Skyrme for bringing together different cultures for an entertaining evening enjoyed by over 100 people.

An appreciative audience gathered at the Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre on 16th March for an enjoyable evening with the Zimbabwean choir, Indian dancing from a local Primary school and English folk singing.

An entertaining poem and history readings about Leicester filled the gaps. Two brilliant playlets depicting aspects of the asylum process, performed by Penny Walker and Ambrose Musiyiwa, summed up for the crowd why it is so important to support asylum seekers through their struggles to find a safe home. The evening was such an enjoyable success we vowed to do this again and build on the cultural mix and shared pleasures.
