On March 8th, 2012, the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duchess of Cambridge came to Leicester as the first of the Queen’s Jubilee visits. They had lunch at St Martin’s House and a number of asylum seekers were allocated places in the building and outside the Cathedral to see them. One, refugee artist Ali Agayev, met the Duke of Edinburgh.
